Employee recognition is on the rise

We found it interesting to read Globoforce’s new survey with employees in the US just published looking at recognition and employee engagement.

Surveying 653 employees, they found that employee recognition is on the rise in US companies and that frequent recognition relates directly to employee satisfaction. Their conclusion? That appreciation is the foundation for motivation.

Here’s a few interesting facts from the report.

  • 81% of employees said recognition made them more satisfied with their work and position in the company. Across the board, recognition mapped directly to feeling appreciated and job satisfaction.
  • Over half of employees surveyed said they would leave their jobs for a company that clearly recognises their efforts – recognised employees are more inclined to stick around.
  • Positive recognition from managers and peers has proven to make a significant difference to engagement with 82% saying being recognised actually motivated them in their jobs.
